Globe All-Scholastics

The Globe published its Fall All-Scholastics yesterday. Here are the honored athletes from BPS:


Carolynn Loyo-Torres

Boston English, Junior, OH

Loyo-Torres averaged 12 kills and five aces per match this season. She was nominated for MVP in track and basketball and won the Sportsmanship Award in softball. The honor roll student is looking to pursue sports medicine in college.

Brandon Amodeo

East Boston, Senior, WR/RB
Amodeo manned the backfield for the City League champions, racking up more than 1,000 yards rushing and 18 touchdowns for the high-powered Jets. The honor role student led the Jets to a Super Bowl, and next hopes to attend college to study civil engineering.

Coach of the Year:

John Sousa

East Boston,  Division 4
In his final season as head coach, Sousa led East Boston to the Division 4 Super Bowl. He has 120 wins in 15 years and was previously named a Globe Coach of the Year in 2003. Sousa credits the Jets’ success to team determination.
