Despite a few miscues by the offense and special teams, the Boston Latin Wolfpack hung on to beat the North Quincy Red Raiders 7-6 on Friday Night at Madison Park High School.
Latin was led by junior running back Jhalen Bien-Aime, who’s 4 yard touchdown run in the second quarter gave the Wolfpack a 7-0 lead at the half. Jhalen also lead the team in rushing.
The Latin defense blanked North Quincy for most of the game, forcing several turnovers and turning up the defensive pressure near the goal line.
North Quincy made it close in the fourth quarter when they forced Boston Latin to punt while pinned inside their own 20. The Red Raiders then blocked the punt and recovered the football inside the 5-yard line. Walter Hannon was able to run it in for a 2-yard score, cutting the Latin lead down to one. But on the point-after attempt, North Quincy had a low snap and was not able to get the kick off, preserving the Boston Latin lead. North Quincy also attempted a field goal late in the game that fell short of the goal post.
The game was moved from White Stadium to Madison Park High School because of the heavy rain throughout the week.
