Dorchester High is about ready to take on Southie in week 1 action Friday night at Saunders Stadium. The team didn’t schedule a week 1A game, so they are trying to get more physical leading up to the opener. Coach Richard Moran says that although his team may be a week behind, they have the tools to compete.
“We have athletes,” said Moran before Monday’s practice. “We need to be consistent and work together.”
Dorchester has a serious physical presence in the form of Tackle Bryant Andrews, who has been getting a lot of attention on the line. Other standouts include senior running backs Michael Belfiore and Kevin Gratts. Coach Moran says that offensive line play will be key to their success, and that is something they’re working on heading into Friday’s game.
“I’m a little nervous about the offensive line. South Boston is a good team that will take advantage of any weaknesses.”
