Latin Academy shuts out Madison Park

By Evan Freedman, Correspondent

Latin Academy won at Madison Park yesterday afternoon, 12-0.  The Dragons played tough throughout, according to Coach Rocco Zizza.

“We were very physical,” said Zizza. “The difference was turnovers and defensive stops.  We held on to the ball and stopped them a couple times on fourth down.”

Senior Jamal Crawford led the charge on defense to preserve the shutout.  Offensively, the Dragons (1-1) were aided by junior back Ernest Kellough, who rushed for 109 yards on 22 carries.

The game was very even, as both defenses were strong, but the difference was turnovers.

“Those turnovers were key,” said Zizza.  “They hurt their momentum.  Now, we didn’t take advantage of them as well as we could have.  But it’s always nice to get the first win of the season.”

Latin Academy looks to get over the .500 mark at 6:30 Friday night against English at White Stadium.
