For the fifth year in a row, the Latin Academy boys hockey team are city league champs over East Boston.  The Dragons, led by headcoach Bob McCormick defeated the EB Jets 6-1 at Matthews Arena at NU on Thursday, February 23.  Latin Academy ends the regular season at 7-12-1 and now await the state tournament pairings.

Scoring goals for Latin Academy in the first period were Kevin Moran, Mark Guerard and Nick Mastrogiacomo.  East Boston got on the board in the second with a goal by freshman Stephen Tauro and the Jets added two more by Paul O’Keefe and Kevin Sweeney.  In the third, Daniel Moran added a sixth goal.  The two teams met previously in January at Fenway Park with a 4-3 win for Latin Academy.  Despite the loss, the Jets were a happy bunch and fortunate to have a team as many of Boston’s high schools no longer have a hockey program.  Fielding only 11 players, the Jets end the regular season at 4-16-0.
